BUILDING STRONGER COMMUNITIES TOGETHER

Our partnerships are rooted in trust, respect, and a shared commitment to environmental stewardship

KBL is proud to work alongside Indigenous communities and local organizations across Canada through collaborative partnerships that advance environmental stewardship, community capacity, and sustainable economic development. Whether through formal joint ventures, memorandums of understanding, or project-based working relationships, these alliances are grounded in mutual respect, transparency, and shared success.

As highlighted in our annual ESG report, KBL has consistently exceeded Indigenous employment and procurement targets—generating over $100 million in revenue through Indigenous partnerships and directly employing hundreds of Indigenous team members. These partnerships not only enhance the delivery of complex environmental remediation and waste management services, but also contribute to long-term community resilience, skill development, and local job creation.

Together, we’re building stronger futures—one project, one relationship, and one region at a time.

Municipal and Corporate Partnerships

Municipal Partnerships

Across Canada, KBL has partnered with forward-thinking municipalities to support local environmental infrastructure and ensure responsible soil management. These partnerships have led to the successful development, construction, and operation of Soil Treatment Facilities (STFs) that serve regional needs, create jobs, and keep contaminated soil out of landfills.

By working collaboratively with municipal leaders, KBL helps communities transform legacy contamination challenges into opportunities for long-term environmental and economic benefit. Each project reflects a shared commitment to local capacity building, regulatory compliance, and circular economy practices.

Current municipal STF partnerships include:

  • Inuvik, NT – Partnered with the Town of Inuvik for northern remediation solutions.
  • Mount Waddington, BC – Supporting the regional district with sustainable soil treatment capacity.
  • 100 Mile House, BC – Delivering environmental services to the South Cariboo area.
  • The Pas, MB – Enhancing soil treatment options in Northern Manitoba.

These partnerships demonstrate KBL’s ability to work alongside local governments to deliver environmental infrastructure that protects communities and the environment.

Corporate Partnerships

KBL recognizes the value of strategic alliances with like-minded businesses to scale impact, improve environmental outcomes, and expand regional service delivery. Our corporate partnerships are formed to combine complementary technologies, infrastructure, and expertise, enabling innovative solutions across Western and Northern Canada.

Key corporate partnerships include:

  • Renue Recycling – A joint initiative between KBL and Calibre Coatings, Renue was formed to integrate two proprietary paint recycling processes. Together, we deliver the highest environmental outcome for the reuse and recycling of surplus paint across Western and Northern Canada, helping to keep valuable materials in circulation and out of landfills.

These corporate partnerships enhance our ability to deliver circular economy solutions and regionalized waste infrastructure, while supporting innovation, job creation, and sustainable growth.

FIRST NATIONS AND Indigenous PARTNERSHIPS

Formal Joint Ventures, Memorandums of Understanding & Working Relationships

KBL is proud to work in collaboration with First Nations and Indigenous organizations across Canada. These partnerships are built on mutual respect, transparency, and a shared vision for sustainable development. They range from formal joint ventures and revenue-sharing agreements to Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and informal working relationships that guide collaboration on a project-by-project basis.

Each partnership is shaped by local context and community goals, whether focused on capacity building, training, revenue generation, or environmental stewardship. These relationships allow KBL to align its work with the values and priorities of Indigenous partners and ensure community benefit is embedded in every project.
