Company Overview

KBL Environmental: A Canadian Environmental Services Company

Born in the North. Built BY SOLVING Canada’s Toughest Environmental Challenges.

KBL Group of Companies is a privately owned Canadian environmental services business providing environmental remediation, waste management, water treatment, technical services, transportation, recycling, and environmental liability management solutions across Western Canada and the North.

Founded in Yellowknife in 2006, KBL was created to address the environmental challenges of remote and underserved northern communities. Working in extreme climates, complex regulatory environments, and locations with limited infrastructure shaped the practical, resourceful, and safety-focused approach that continues to define our company today.

Through strategic acquisitions, Indigenous partnerships, organic growth, and continued investment in people, facilities, equipment, and technology, KBL has grown into an integrated environmental services provider capable of supporting projects from initial planning through field execution, treatment, recovery, and final project completion.

Together with the organizations and predecessor companies that now form part of KBL, our team brings more than 35 years of combined environmental services experience and a history of more than 16,000 completed projects across Canada.

KBL Waste Management Facility

Our Story

Northern Roots. National Capability.

KBL began with an opportunity to provide hazardous waste management services to an underserved northern market. From the outset, the company was required to solve problems differently.

Northern projects demanded careful planning, specialized logistics, adaptable equipment, strong local relationships, and teams capable of working safely and independently in remote environments. From winter roads and seasonal sealifts to fly-in communities, operating mines, industrial sites, and abandoned exploration properties, KBL built its reputation by delivering practical solutions where conventional approaches were not always possible.

As the company grew, KBL expanded beyond waste management into environmental remediation, demolition and decommissioning, water treatment, dredging and dewatering, technical consulting, environmental construction, transportation, recycling, and circular economy solutions.

Today, KBL applies the experience developed in the North to environmental challenges throughout Western Canada and across the country.
