PROJECT PROFILE
As part of the ongoing operations and growth at their waste management facility, the client required construction of an additional waste cell to increase their facility capacity.
SCOPE OF WORK
Excavation and grading; Geosynthetic Clay Liner Installation; Perimeter containment berm construction; Supply and install GCL, HDPE Smooth geomembrane, HDPE textured geomembrane; Construct leachate collection sump and trench; Supply and install HDPE DR17 pipes; Supply and install geocomposite; Supply and place granular leachate collection stone; Supply and install geotextile filter; Supply and install geotextile cushion; Select, supply and install HDPE DR17 pipe fittings; Supply and place sand drainage layer; Complete interior ditch, apply topsoil along the perimeter of Cells 16 and 17; Apply topsoil to exterior slopes of the perimeter containment berm of Cell 17; Supply and apply seeding to interior ditch along the perimeter of Cells 16 and 17; and Supply and apply seeding to exterior slopes of proposed Cell 17 perimeter containment berm.
PROJECT CHALLENGES
Due to the type of soil stratigraphy at this project site, KBL Projects had to move the soil material efficiently and effectively in order to achieve the different levels of quality standards, all while keeping the transport vehicles productive.
PROJECT SUCCESS
KBL Projects was able to successfully minimize the amount of double-handling of the material; sorted material according to the specifications; and shorten the distance required to transport the material. All quality standards that were required were positively achieved.
